Hk AVR65 Posted by pete [IP: 149.112.117.50] on November 04, 1998 at 10:54:24: In Reply to: Hk AVR65 posted by Damir on November 04, 1998 at 10:18:17: Damir, In regards to whether or not it offers remote mains control - I've never heard that term before, but if you mean multi-room capability, then the AVR 65 glossy I have claims "Sophisticated Multiroom Control System" as a feature. (not real sure what an unsophisticated multiroom control would consist of...) This Multiroom feature probably gives it even more video switching capability than I am aware of. In regards to how the unit looks, the unit looks like all the other recent models out, like the AVR 75, 55, 85, 70, 20 MK II. It has the very long center display with bluish-white text and supporting lower-case red text for the various functions that may be used. Just below the main display is a row of buttons equal in length to the display that are slightly extruded. They allow for direct control of the device that is more than adequate. Unlike the older AVR 70 I have, some of the preset and tuning jog buttons have migrated to the center of the switch row, but essentially it is the same. In the upper right is a large digital, gang-type volume knob for master volume control. At the lower right are the standard AV input jacks. Just next to those are Bass, treble, and balance (basss usually at around 100 Hz control and treble around 10KHz control on the HK). What is different than my old unit are several buttons just to the left of the volume knob that sit in the display that I would guess are used for DD/DTS adjustments. And they finally changed the %#$@ remote!!! The AVR 70 remote was designed for something other than a human and was misweighted at the front end with all the important stuff at the rear end. Seems like a dumb complaint until you own one and then drop it a few times when simply trying to turn the volume down and squeezing the just the lower right corner of the remote at the edge. Again, I suggest you call the number I posted above for customer service. They really should be able to answer your questions better if you are really ready to buy soon. They can send you more information in the mail, too. One last thing, the specs I have show the power to be different than what Randy mentioned. The HK glossy says good luck,
