A/V receiver-sony or yamaha

Looking to purchase my AV receiver. I have 5 NHT superones and a panasonic DVD. I want a receiver that has DD and DTS... Would like to stay around $1000. I have looked at the Sony 30ES and 50ES. They seem good. Is it worth the extra cash for the 50ES for 20 watts more? I have a 14x18 room with a 55inch Mitsu TV, Do I need the more watts and will I notice it? The Yamaha 795 looks interesting but they are not out yet to test drive. Any idea when they come out?
