New Yamaha DSP-A2 A/V Amplifier/Processor Posted by SMR [WizOp] [IP: 212.211.25.12] on November 05, 1998 at 01:13:13: ![]()
Folks, I attended an A/V demonstration this evening, a component of which was the new Yamaha DSP A-2 (photograph above). Although I couldn't critically evaluate the unit under the circumstances, the operation was flawless and the user interface as one would expect from Yamaha. I tried Dolby Digital from DVD and via the RF input (the A2 has a demodulator) together with DTS from a music disc. Particularly impressive was the way in which Dolby Digital and DTS were automatically selected when using the same digital input (a Yamaha DVD player). There wasn't even a characteristic DTS "fzzztttt" before the format was identified. The photograph at the foot of this message is the rear panel of the DSP-A1, here are the most important specs: Minimum RMS output power (8ohms 20Hz to 20kHz) Dynamic Power per channel (main channels) Damping factor (8ohm, main channels) Dimensions Weight SMR observations (features)
