: : Do you yet have an idea of what "significantly cheaper" will end up being? When will this be available to the general public for purchase?

: : Thanks,

: : : The only benefit of the A2 over the A1 is that it will be significantly cheaper, closing the gap between the top-of-the-range product and other Yamaha Dolby Digital amplifier/processors.

: So, as far as functionality, this unit is identical to the A-1 except for having slightly less power??

Right of the bat, I see a couple of things missing or are not as high performance. This unit does not have the "split sub-woofer outs". It also has - I think - the same A/D, and D/A, and 20bit processor as the 2095. It looks like some IOs are missing. Sorry, I don't have my manual handy, but it gives you folks something to checkout yourself. It is still a Yamaha. So, you will be getting a well designed piece of equipment.
