Bad?using Yamaha795 as PRE-AMP, add better amp? Posted by Mike Silentwriter [IP: 142.194.176.30] on November 07, 1998 at 00:27:30: I don't like reciever power, but I like reciever price. DTS, DD, 6-channel in, more than a pre-amp at an affordable lever will cost me...so...I thought, why not use this reciever as a pre-amp, and add say, a Parasound or an Adcom amp? You get much better dynamic range using seperates, I'm just wondering if there will be any limitations using the Yamaha RX-V795 as a pre-amp, will there be significant differences between this as opposed to using a "true" pre-amp? I'm not too crazy about that 8/4 ohm switch on the back of the Yamaha, and it can't be defeated. So that's why I want a better amp that can put a heafty amount of power out, all channels driven, at low distortion levels from 20-20. Also, many seperate amps can do a better job as far as coming close to doubling the power into 4 ohms from eight (all channels driven). Please tell me your opinion... Mike
