Well, if you read some of the discussions regarding DTS, you'll see that majority of people think DTS is not very important (at least not now) - Stuart - SMR(WizOp) once said there are many people with expensive DTS built-in units but with only few DTS titles. Most of them use DD or ProLogic daily and DTS very rarely.
Personally I can't hear audiable difference between DD and DTS - DTS is less compressed so it COULD sound better (contain more information) than DD. BUT, perceptual coding relies on good perceptual compression method so theoretically you could have same quality with very compressed format (using good compression method) and less compressed format with same quality but not so good compression method.
It is difficult to explain - If you wish you can read more about perceptual coding (link below).
There are two possible reasons why all major HT manufacturers include DTS in their units:
1. They know something we don't - perhaps a large amount of DTS titles will be available soon..
2. Market factor - if my competition has DTS, I'll include DTS in my units too. I don't want customer to go to my competition just because they have DTS and I don't. It is not my problem there's no DTS software on market. It is important my customer is happy - he has DTS.

I belive next few months will show. (If you're buying new unit make sure it has 5.1 ins - that way you can add an external decoder)
