GDS,

: You are so far from the truth, you could not be more wrong !!!
: The 795 has a bigger power supply than the 793. In addition, Yamaha has never had a provision to bi-amp a center channel. Where did you come up with such ridiculous information?

I was under the impression that this forum was one where those 'in the know' could help other enthusiasts in a civilised manner. I came up with that information from the specs on Yamaha's web site. The 795 appears to have a lesser power supply, IMHO, due to two factors - first, the dynamic power into 8/6/4/2ohms is less for the 795 than it was for the 793, and second, the damping factor of the 793 is 2.5 greater than that of the 795. I may well be wrong, but this indicates to me an inferior power supply in the 795.

Next, I never thought that Yamaha had provision for bi-amping the centre channel. As the term suggests, you would need two amps. I, perhaps mistakenly, thought that by providing a facility for hooking up two centre channels, Yamaha made it easier for people to bi-wire (NOT bi-amp) the centre channel. All I was pointing out was that the new 795 did not have this provision, although I suppose it still doesn't stop one from bi-wiring.

Graham
