Yamaha RXV-793 and surround 200

Posted by weapon_x11 [IP: 192.44.205.101] on November 08, 1998 at 19:47:49:

After weeks of searching for a decent home theater set-up, I was able to come up w/ the following based on my limited budget.

Yamaha RX-V793 (80 x 5 RMS) + APD1 demodulator
Mains: Jamo Silhouette (110W short term)
Center: Jamo Center 100 (100W short tem)
Rear: Jamo Surround 200 (50W long term / 70 W short term)

My DD 5.1 source is the Sony MDP-V7. Successfully decoded DD from 2 LDs.

Can the surround 200 handle the 80W RMS from the 793. I’m quite pleased with the sound and only increase volume up to 12 o’clock since I’m worried my rears can’t handle the current? Does this have any basis? Anybody have a similar set-up?

Thanks!
