Yamaha DSP-A1?! Why not B&K AVR202!!! Why not B&K AVR202!!! posted by Christopher Taplin on November 08, 1998 at 19:30:43: Chris - My strikes went the other way (although I didn't count strikes): I don't have a LD with AC/3 RF out, so that didn't matter, but the DSP-A1 doesn't have a tuner which I would have to add separately. The AVR202 has a 5 year warranty and is made in the USA. The AVR202 has a much better remote (SL-9000) The AVR202 has true 5 way binding posts, the DSP-A1 has collared posts making bare wire and spades difficult to use. The AVR202 has a detachable power cord. The DSP-A1 has 5.1 inputs but the AVR202 is factory upgradeable. TIE The DSP-A1 has a ReEQ-like circuitry, the B&K doesn't, but it is rumored to be in the works. The DSP-A1 has tons of DSP modes and Yamaha 7.1 sound. So, in the end, you have to make up your own mind. If you think you might use the 7.1 sound, get the DSP-A1, if not, my choice was easy - B&K AVR202. === Tim
