You need to double the wattage each time to make a noticable difference in volume. Use this formula-> dB=10*logA/B where A=higher wattage of receivers to be compared, and B=lower wattage of the two. Example:If A=100 and B=80, then dB would=.97 The human ear needs an increase of 3dB to obtain a noticable difference in volume, .97dB falls far short of that. To hear a noticable difference in volume from a 80 watt output, you would have to step up to a 160 watt output.
