Velodyne subs

i bought the classic theatre--returned it. then the VAX series and returned it. they had two much distortion at like 50 watts from my pioneer receiver. so i finally found the 12 inch F series for 825 at UA's clearance. it was broke, so they sent it in for repaird for free. does anyone know if the F series is really good? i listen to rap with all bass turned up, or does anyone have any sub $1000 subs that deliver great performance? i use 16 gauge monster cable.
