The one feature about the B&K preamps and receivers that I like is the true analog passthru. If you have a good to high quality CD player, you can use the B&K piece as an analog preamp and get slightly better quality. If you feed an analog input to the DC-1, it is converted to the digital domain and reconverted to analog. You will lose some signal quality in this process. However, if you plan to use the digital out of the CD player to the digital in of the preamp, then this is irrevelant.

Personally, I really like the B&K pieces. They were my second choice, however, and I ended up with a Proceed AVP. I am, however, getting a demo B&K Ref20 this weekend to compare to the AVP. I like the analog out of my CD player a little better than the analog generated by the AVP DACs, so I'm going to see how good the preamp section of the B&K is. If I really like it, and also like a few movies for DD, I may go with it instead.

The B&K does require a little work to get setup for ease of use through the remote control. I'm unfamiliar with the Lexicon, so I can't comment on it's ease of use.

I will say this, though. I think the B&K is a great deal for the money. It was a hard choice between it and the Proceed, and the decision was made when I found a used AVP to purchase.

Good luck!

Bryan
