Sony STR-DE925 availability

A ComputAbility sales representative explained to me last week that shipment of the STR-DE925 receiver has been delayed since the end of August due to Sony's "inability" to keep up with the demand for this product. It is clear from earlier posts to this forum that the STR-DE925 is indeed available in certain retail locations, so I doubt the back-orders can be explained by some sort of technical problem with the receiver itself. According to a salesman at a small retail store in my area (who is also greatly frustrated by the delay in shipment), Sony has become notorious for delivering its high-end receivers much later than the "promised" release date. As of yesterday (25 Sep 98), ComputAbility has still been unable to secure from Sony a definite time of arrival for this receiver, and I doubt that any of the other mail-order providers have had much better luck. So, unless you are fortunate enough to find the STR-DE925 at a retail store in your area, I'm afraid you'll have to continue waiting with the rest of us.
