What's the best DD/DTS reciever around?

I like the Onkyo 656 (about 700 bucks). It is not DTS but it does have six channel input so you can add whatever processor you like. I wouldn't rule out a receiver that doesn't do DTS. Those schmoes are about to blow it if they don't get their act together.
: All this reciever stuff is confusing. Whats the best reciever in the $600-1000 dollar price range?
