Unusual sound from surround -- Marantz

When I am connected to my DSS through Marantz SR-870 Dolby digital ready decoder, I sometimes get high bursts of noise in the surround mode. I use Matrix as the relay on DSS for most is not Pro-Logic.
My other gear includes Panasonic DVD A-300 (no problem of surround on the fabulous AC-3 sound), Polk RT-20 speakers, CS-250 centre, M5 surrounds, Marantz PM-80mkiiSE amp for stereo on MS30i Classic speakers with Marantz CD-67mkIISE, SD-555 cassette deck, and EQ-515 equalizer...

Why is there such odd bursts on DSS when decoded on MATRIX....something to do with sound at source??
