DSP-A1 OWNERS

Posted by miker on September 29, 1998 at 02:13:20:

Hello, first a question, I would like to know if anyone who owns the dsp-a1 likes the way music sounds on it with the effects OFF! many people have said the dspa1 pretty much sucks when it comes to cd music, i'm talking normal cd's here, not dvd audio or dts encoded discs, i myself find cd's sound pretty good on the dsp a1, a little harsh though, i also own the parasound cdc 1500 cd player, someone sent me this tid bit
"Another bonus is that you can upgrade the C/DC-1500 with even better digital outputs. Parasound sells the AESOP ($99) to add AES/EBU XLR outputs, while the ADAM ($225) module provides AES/EBU and AT&T ST Fiber Optical outputs"
A friend told me one of these 2 possible upgrades can not be done for the dsp-a1 because it is not compatible in some way, is that true? and would either 1 of these upgrades make a noticable differnce in cd sound in your opinion? i have klipsh kg 4.5 speakers and i am using coaxial cable for my cd sound, my hifi guy told me a power chord of some sort that he has in stock would improve things, is that true? i also want to go on record saying tha the dsp-a1 manual is horrid, i am new to home thatre, and the explanations of all the dsp-a1 frequincies modes leaves alot to be desired, i have no idea what half that stuff means or how it's functions play a part in the overall sound, the importaant part of this post is the questions i asked way up above, please help, thank you for reading this, i would love to hear opinions from dsp-a1 owners on how they enjoy standard cd music with the effects off or on.
