: I don't want to spend any more than $1000. I am looking for Dolby Digital/DTS (5.1 channel digital). I would love THX if I could get it.
: What is out there?? I heard a receiver
: with 6 channel input is best because you
: can then add another processor at a later date. Please give me some suggestions..

I just purchased a Technics SF-DX6 combination that comes with reciever and decoder for DTS and DD for $569 (actually paid less because of other components bought). If you do get a reciever though, you'd be wise to get one that does have seperate inputs and get either a Decoder board to decode any formats you are interested in or get a DVD player that has 6 channel output (will have decoder chip already-right now only DD formats can be found). I hear DSS is going to try DTS and DD in the future also, so you may want to keep in that area. Don't get overly concerned about THX, because from what I understand, it's really doesn't require any special kind of decoder like DTS or DD. It's just a status symbol of how good your system is after setup to get the most authentic result. Look for more information under their website, THX.com?
