Yamaha 2090 , only 5 inputs

I am ready to purchase an external decoder for my yamaha 2090, with 5 analog inputs for audio(subwoofer input is not avail.)The receiver has a dedicated sub line out, but not an imput. I was wondering if there is a big disadvantage to using this configuration or do I need to purchase another receiver(ouch!). I have grown quite attached to this unit and enjoy the 7-channel output. Also,does anyone know if the yamaha ddp-1 or ddp-2 will preserve the 7 channels for DD ?
