Ross,

: I would consider DTS important, after all, most manufacters have now included it in new model Receivers.

DTS is insignificant, there is a tiny amount of software and what is available and has some value - the music discs - will be surpassed shortly by DVD-Audio. This is one reason DTS are having a temper tantrum and trying to force an injunction on DVD-Audio, thus delaying its introduction.

: Roumors of DTS being a flop seem to be promoted by owners of DD only equipment, trying to protect their investment, by knocking down any new contenders.

I think most people who have DTS decoders, such as myself, would agree that DTS is a technical and marketing flop. This isn't a case of sour grapes from people who don't own the hardware, it is exasperation from those who do own the hardware but have nothing to play on it! Use the DC-1 owners (forum 3 here) as an example. Many have DTS decoders but amazingly, most only have a tiny number of titles, perhaps two or three LDs and as many music discs. In comparison they use Dolby Digital every day, from DVD, LD and DSS.

Six channel inputs are far more important than DTS, which incidentally costs next to nothing to implement in terms of hardware - the same DSP IC performs Dolby Digital, DTS and Pro-logic decoding.

Stuart.
