Is there a way to modify the Sony ES50 Remote!

Hi,

Is there a way to modify the Sony ES50 Remote?? I want to be able to use some extra functions when using other brands. Like the Pioneer DV-414 DVD player. If using the Sony Remote it will not give you the DVD MENU function or the arrows to select menus. Any help would be apprieciated.
