If you damage anything it will be the receiver. If you listen to it at loud volumes the internal circuit breaker will trip. You can go to Radio Shack and get some 4-ohm 70+ watt resistors and put each one in series on the positive line per speaker. This will add 4 ohms to each speaker and put them in the correct tolerance.
