More robust pre/pro?

Posted by Matt Gordon [IP: 192.11.226.97] on December 31, 1998 at 08:52:40:

I'm looking for a (AC-3 & DTS)pre/pro with which I can have the standard 5.1 arrangement with the addition of another sub, another center speaker, and side effects channels. In other words: 2 on the center channel, a pair of mains, a pair of surrounds, a pair of side effects, and a pair of subs for a total of 10 speakers.

Also, I would like the pre/pro to have future upgradability, like the Theta Casablanca, which I don't think has the proper outputs to handle the speaker array I have planned.

I think the Proceed PAV/PDSD combo can do this, but can any other pre/pro's?

I'm hoping the $6000 Krell HT Standard, to be released in Jan. '99 will be able to do this. Does anyone know anything about this unit?

(If it helps, it would control an array of Martin Logans driven by Krell amps and Velodyne and Bag End powered subs.)

Any comments would be appreciated!
