Yamaha RX-V 995 vs. Sherwood R-945

ok heres my problem... I just bought my energy c-8 speakers and i know want to replace my harman/kardon avr20 MKII. I have heard the c-8s hooked up to the sherwood r-945 and it sounded awesome! it does not have 6.ch inputs... i can live with that or just buy the r-925 and buy an ext. decoder... no biggie. (also i have heard that a 945 mkII is coming out?) Then i got to looking and the yamaha rx-v995 has the inputs, more power, more inputs, more possibilities. I am unable to demo the yamaha witht he c-8s and even if i could - it would be at the good guys. So anyone out there with know which is going to be the higher quality reciever? am i losing quality for the 300+ sounfields and additional inputs outputs? I plan on sticking a pair of c-4 speakers in the rear. and 60% music 40% HT. any advice would be appreciated. i don't even have the cash and it's burning a hole in my pocket!
