Fish,

Yes, you need a Dolby Digital input if you want to send Dolby Digital signals to a receiver, and of course they all have such a thing. The input will be an S/P-DIF interface for all but Dolby Digital RF signals (from laserdisc), the inputs will usual accept PCM from CD too.
