McIntosh equipment question

Posted by Larry Hess [IP: 32.101.42.135] on January 30, 1999 at 13:13:51:

A few years ago I set up a basement home theater based around McIntosh equipment. I have a C-39 unit, but it is not set up for anything but Dolby Pro Logic.

Now my buddies are getting DVD players with Dolby Digital and dts and other good things. I asked my dealer what it would take to upgrade. McIntosh can take my C-39 and adapt it for digital outputs, then I can get another McIntosh piece with all the processing. Or... I could trade in my C-39 for their top of the line, now with all the whistles and bells.

My question: is there an add-on piece I could get to use with my C-39, a Dolby
Digital/dts processing outboard unit that would run through the McIntosh
equipment?

The Mac stuff took me *forever* to save up for, and, well, I'm married now. Is
there an alternative anyone suggests?
