adding surround sound to upscale audio components

Gentlemen; At present I have Mark Levinson Pwr. amp #23, Pre.amp#26 JANIS 15 " powd. sub woofer, B&W 801 speakers and pionner elite 50' t.v.
I would like to add on surround sound. The dealers I have talked to have suggested using A.V. recevier going through my present components. Isn't there a add on processer that I could use that would make use my present components, give me the sound and features needed and won't cost an arm and leg.
