Check out the VANTAS surround sound processor; they have 2 models; one to allow upgrading a stereo setup to ProLogic and Dolby Digital and the other to upgrade a ProLogic to Dolby Digital. It is essentially a PL & DD decoder and a 3 channel X 100 watt amplifier. It has a unique volume tracking control; hookup is between your present power amp speaker outputs and speakers. The manual calls for hookup using a receiver or integrated amp -- I'm not sure if it would work with separate pre and power amps. Check out their website at www.vantas.com
