As a newbie I need you to confirm: the limitation of Dolby Pro Logic is only in comparison to Dolby5.1 or DTS. For an audio only system, either are superfluous and thus need not be considered. Is this correct?

Also, what kind of listening experience difference should I expect between a 100 watt consumer brand receiver (Technics) and the HK? I've been using the Technics to drive several rooms through a low-end impedance matching switch. I'm wondering if using the 5 separate channels directly (no switch) would be an improvement.
