Denon AVR-2400/Technics AC-500D vs. Yamaha RX-V795

I am currently using this setup and have found the combination to be fantastic. I would recommend the combination over the Yamaha for the following reasons:

1) The 795 only has 2 s-video inputs vs. 4 on the Denon

2) The 2400 seems to be built better (weighs about 6 pounds more than the Yamaha)

3) I think a good receiver should have binding posts for all speakers - for some reason Yamaha skimped here

4) Some people have experienced compatability problems with the Yamaha receivers used in conjunction with Toshiba DVD players (this bothered me a little - even though I use a Panasonic A110. BTW, I'm not blaming Yamaha for the problem)

5) In a comparison I did with the 2400 and the 795's predecessor the 793 - I personally like the sound of the Denon. It seemed to have a warmer sound (particularly noticeable on music)

6) I think the 2400 has one of the best Pro-Logic decoders available anywhere near its price (But you don't want to waste your time on Pro-Logic anyway - right :)

7) The 2400 has received excellent reviews in several magazines (Haven't seen anything yet on the 795)

8) I really like the 5-channel stereo option on the 2400 - sounds great for music.

Anyway, Yamaha makes great receivers - I personally wouldn't mind having a 2095 myself. I feel that the Denon 2400/Technics SHAC500D combination is a better value with slightly better performance than the 795 - especially if you are going to listen to CD's and well as watch movies.

Good luck!

PS: I've also heard the Denon 2400 used with the older Technics SHAC300 Dolby Digital Processor and it also sounded fantastic.
