Denon AVR-2400/Technics AC-500D vs. Yamaha RX-V795 Posted by Bob [IP: 207.115.1.105] on November 30, 1998 at 17:35:26: In Reply to: Denon AVR-2400/Technics AC-500D vs. Yamaha RX-V795 posted by Stephen on November 29, 1998 at 22:51:27: I'd have to say go with the Yamaha. I feel Yamaha does a better job with music from the higher performance. The Denons sounded more forward in the midrange, which I thought was very unnatural. The bass also didn't have the authority of the Yamaha units. The drum kick just didn't have as much realism as the Yamaha. I also perfer Yamaha's processors over the Motorolas used by Denon. The Denon didn't sound as clean or as quiet to me as the Yamaha. I also was disappointed in the build quality of the Denon units. The Yamaha has impressive build quality. I have never heard the Technics processor but have heard great things about it's performance from others that could afford what ever they wanted. They went with the Technics though. I had originally compared the Denon AVR-2400 against the Yamaha RX-V592. I also compared the Denon AVR-2700 against the Yamaha RX-V793. The impressions of the auditions stemmed the same feeling from both sets of receivers. I have not heard the Yamaha RX-V795 but believe it will sound very similar to the RX-V793. I suggest you do your own auditions and see what you prefer. Make sure you do an A/B comparision with a switching device so that you get an accurate comparison. Good luck!
