The Motorola DTS 56009 chip that is in the DSP-A1 was the first available DTS mass production DTS Decoder chip sold under lisence.

Yamaha soon developed their own DTS chip for subsequent models. The only difference I know of is that the Motorola DTS chip is 24 bits whereas all Yamaha DTS chips are 20 bits or lower (so far). It is arguable whether this has any siginificant effect on performance.

Traditionally, Yamaha has done quite well with the AISC chips used in DSP modes. In fact, they are the grandfathers of DSP. At the end of the day, it's a personal judgement call. Since I have yet to hear a DTS DVD, I cannot comment on any perceived difference between the Motorola and Yamaha's proprietary chip. I would assume both have to meet DTS specifications and should be about equal in performance.
