I have benn waiting for this pre-amp for sometime now. I have looked at many others which include the ACT 3, Marantz, BK REF 10 & 2 and the new Adcom pre-amp. I have decided that this Rotel pre-amp might be the best choice. However, it was suppose to be in stores in early November but has been pushed back to the first of the year. The reason for it was that the processing chip in the RSP985 was locking on DD and could not become disabled unless you unplugged it. Soon after a couple times of this, it would become permanently locked. They are going to replace the chip with the new Motorola. I am not sure if the Motorola chip that they list on their website is the chip that they will be using. Anyways, there website lists all specs and features of the RSP985 and the less expensive model. By the way, since it is one chip that does all the processing stereo,DPL,DD,DTS,THX, the THX processing will work on all modes!
This sounds like the pre-amp to own for under $2000 and with Rotels great record of high end products with low prices you can not go wrong.
Hope this helps!
