Speaker hiss from AVR75 at 0 dB

Posted by Mark Casey [IP: 205.240.180.90] on March 28, 1999 at 19:44:48
Using Mozilla/4.5 (Macintosh; I; PPC):

I have a new Harman Kardon AVR75 receiver. I notice a hiss from the speakers regardless of input selected (even with no signal present). The hiss gets louder and softer with volume adjustments. This receiver replaced an old proton amp and was the only thing
changed in my system. The Proton never produced this hiss. Inputs are: Sony CD, Sony MD, Sony DSS, Sony RP-TV, JVC VCR.
Speakers are Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble III.

Any thoughts? I haven't yet tried disconnecting all source signals from the reciever.

Thanks,
Mark
