Proceed AVP Balanced Outputs

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (WinNT; I):

Over the weekend, I decided to upgrade one of my amplifiers (Krell KAV-250a to Krell FPB-200). While I was at the dealer (who sells Krell and EAD, but not Proceed), I mentioned that this might be a good time to switch to balanced interconnects for the preamp/amp connection. He told me that the balanced outputs on Proceed components are not truly balanced outputs (and therefore switching to balanced interconnects wouldn't make a difference). Is this true? If so, what other preamp/processors have this problem? Which preamp/processors have truly balanced outputs?
