optical splitter

Actually what you need is a combiner or a switcher rather than a splitter.

The only such animal I know of for the consumer market is the MSB Digital Director which I reviewed in my article. It will accept 2 digital inputs (and 4 coaxial) and switch between them on a priority basis. However given the cost it may be overkill for your purposes - I think your only option may be manual unplugging and replugging. It is possible that there may be a DIY switcher than someone could put together for you, or give you plans for if you are handy with a soldering iron, but I am not aware any myself. Have you tried a web search engine? Sorry I cannot be of more help.
