Randy,

I think you may have the same difficulty that I'm having with my STR-DA50ES. I suspect that it uses the same DD/DTS decoding chip as the 925.

I have tried my receiver with three different DVD players with similar intermittent audio drop-out on various disks. Each time I have had the trouble when using the coax digital in. I have also had the trouble using two different coax cables.

I just recently switched to an optical connection and have experienced NO audio dropout. I have, however, experienced a loud "digital" pop when I hit play after scanning forward or backward. This pop may be specific to the DVD player I currently have (JVC-501BK).

My perspective is that I can live with the pop since I know when it will happen, vs. intermittent loss on the coax input. You might want to have Sony check on the coax input. I haven't done that yet, though that was the suspicion of both Nigel and Alan (moderators on these forums).

Good luck.

Andrew
