HELP WITH YAMAHA HISTORY

It is strictly a preamp with 7 amps (not a receiver with tuner). It has DPL and DSP and is DD ready in the sense that you can decouple the preamp from the amps in order to insert a DD decoder. It has a line level output for a powered subwoofer with a frequency cut-off at 200 hz which I find a bit high and use an 80 hz low pass line filter. Its amps provide 80w @ 8 ohms and 100w @ 6 ohms for the main right, left and center and 25w @ 8 ohms and 30w @ 6 ohms for the rear and front effect speakers. I use mine with two additional 130w Parasound HCA-800II stereo amps for my main left and right and use the three main channels for the center and rear surrounds. The second HCA-800II is used to power a DVC subwoofer. The four small amps are used for four front effect speakers. I am now adding a Sony EP9ES DD decoder for a DVD. I have seen the used DSP-A1000 in Audio Review Market Place for $400 asking. I hope this helps if you have more questions just ask. Fernando
