Sony TA-E9000ES S/W Version?

I too purchased a TA-E9000ES. It was shipped to me on March 26 (after an almost 3 week wait). I was told that my patience would be rewarded with a new unit with the latest software update (no lip-sync problem) and a "new" remote. There is nothing on the box or remote indicating that it is a "new" remote and I too cannot tell the software version number by using the "+/-" knob. Even so, I haven't exerienced the lip sync problem and the remote is bright enough. Let me know how to ID the new remote and the software version if you find out.
