Equalizer Usage

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; AOL 4.0; Windows 95):

I don't really want to get into separates, but would like to use an equalizer to adjust the output from a Dolby Digital (or any 5/6 channel) source. The equalizer is available (AudioSource?), but how to integrate it is the trick. The Yamaha RX-V995 (for example) has both pre-outs for an outside amp, and 5.1 inputs to the internal amplifiers, but you can't successfully loop from the pre-outs to the power-ins, and my real goal, put an EQ in that circuit. Any suggestions (besides buy separates, new speakers, new house, etc.) Looking for a DD receiver that has available pre-out/amps-in loop.
