Meridian 561 vs lexicon MC1 vs Proceed AVP(svid)

In my auditions, the sound quality of it vs. the Theta and Lex and Meridian was close. I'd rank the AVP and Theta as the top two of the four. I , of course, bumped into a dealer (a good one too) who had nothing good to say about the Lexicon DC-2, and further claimed that Lex had to lower the price to meet the AVP. While less hardware upgradeable than some, the AVP has more computing power and capacity than any of the others mentioned. It uses more powerful DSP's and has more memory. Therefore, it should be able to handle more extensive and larger software upgrades. Although I haven't had to do a software upgrade yet, feedback I get from my dealer and Proceed directly have left me not worried about it. Another point: the Proceed is far and away the easiest to set up and use of any of these units. You can look at the small remote and think your being ripped of, but I wouldn't trade it for any of the others. Unlike a stereo preamp, A/V controllers require a lot more interaction with the user, and I found the Proceed so much better thought out than any of the others. UK Home Entertainment has a review of some of these processors in the latest issue, check it out. It recommended dealer setup of both the Theta and Meridian, which I think is an absurd thing for a processor to even come close to requiring. Hope this post wasn't too long.
