Meridian 561 vs lexicon MC1 vs Proceed AVP(svid)

Also, the one surround mode available on the AVP is a synthesized stereo surround ala Theta and Lexicon. Perhaps it's borrowed from Lexicon. I kind of wonder how Proceed will handle things that may well require some sort of hardware change -- for this possibility, the Casa Nova is more friendly. If for example, MLP requires a firewire port, what will be the Proceed solution? On the other hand, any other type of upgrade will be a lot cheaper or free if done through software rather than hardware. I don't want to keep having to spend money to keep up. This is all probably well down the road as DVD-A players won't be out in force until fall or winter and the software? Who knows. As for dealers, and having sold stereo equipment long ago, it's most important to remember they're all salesman, bottom line. Doesn't mean they're not ethical, just that their job is to sell what they have, usually the most profitable items they have.
