I got a chance to demo the 995. It DOES switch automatically to DD/DTS.

Most receivers out there do not have a specific setting for DD. You set the effect to DPL and if it senses/you choose the Digital connectinon for that source it will switch into DD. The 995 works this way.. you can have a sources input set to Auto (if digital connection is present it will choose this one) or Analog (force analog inputs).
