I managed to utilize the audio control "Bijou" EQ with my DSP-A1. However, I had to do minor rewiring internally. I ordered the service manual from Yamaha. Then I wired the front effects directly to their amp inputs, and used/wired the front effects pre-out jacks for rear surround main-ins. Then re-labeled. This has worked perfect for 6mo. Part of my next series of mods will be to add front effects pre-out/main in jacks. This will be beneficial as the front effects are full range.
I also intend to integrate TDS into all channels, add seperate subwoofer and LFE outputs and change split sub out from L/R to F/R (selectable). My DSP-A1 sounds way better to me with an external EQ. Thats my opinion. Heres another. The Cinema EQ feature is as worthless as THX certification coined by others!
