Meridian 561 vs lexicon MC1 vs Proceed AVP(svid)

As the name implies, it extracts only ambience into the surround channels, left and right main are unaffected. It really works. It does not have any enhanced movie modes at the moment, although there is a mono surround mode I use for older film soundtracks occasionally. Again, with the AVP, what I'm most happy with is the outstanding sound quality and ease of use. Prior to it, I owned a very good Melos preamp -- I was worried about losing a lot in straight stereo. The AVP compares favorably to the Melos and sounded better to me than the other pre/pros out there. I was, by the way, referring to SACD. In July, Proceed is supposed to come out with their universal DVD transport incidentally. Very pricey, but infinitely upgradeable, even the laser assembly in case something like blue laser comes around.
