Ken,
Subwoofer level and LFE trim are NOT the same level adjustment. WRONGO :-) . Yamaha receivers and others have both of these adjustments. LFE level adjustment is for the LFE CHANNEL in either Dolby digital and/or DTS. My Yamaha has separate LFE level adjustments for both Dolby Digital and DTS. The subwoofer level adjusts ALL BASS, not just the LFE level. Bass from channels marked as "small" will also go to the subwoofer output and will be adjustable from the SUBWOOFER LEVEL adjustment along with the LFE level. You could say that the LFE channel bass gets adjusted in porportion to the other channel's output by the LFE TRIM OR LFE LEVEL adjustment. Then all the channels' bass content gets adjusted in pRortion to all channels'other frequencies outpum . Please forgive the screwed up text. This Forum is CRASHING MY COMPUTER "AGAIN!!!!"
