I believe that for composite video, the spec mandates 75 ohm. However, I don't konw what the spec mandates for S-video connections, which is what Bryan is referring to; basically, he is suggesting that an easy way to make an S-video cable is to take to 50-ohm coax cables and use one for chroma and one for luma.
