Theta Casanova upgrade

I have had my Casa Nova for about a week and a half now. I had some problems locking to digital signals for a bit, but powering it down and letting it sit for a while cured it every time; Theta suspects a static discharge (cats?) or something. Either way, it's working now. I don't have the Circle Surround processor installed (it's on order). I just retired my B&W 602's to surround duty, since my Magnepan MG1.6's just got here. They get a long well together. The amps are Marantz MA-500's in front, an H/K PA-2200 in the back. The center and subs will come later, when I have saved up some money again. Anyway, I have been listening to Loreena McKennitt Live in Paris and Toronto and Carla Lother's Ephemera all evening. It sounds remarkably transparent and natural. The detail alone is impressive; yet it's still silky smooth. Dolby Digital on this thing sounds so good that it also makes me wonder about CD... the dynamic range is, to say the least, shocking -- and that was before the Maggies. The speakers are extremely difficult to localize throughout most of my living room. The entire front of the room sounds alive and musical. Long live dipoles! :) When I wired up the Casa Nova after trading in my Lexicon DC-1, I was already pleased; it sounded perceptibly better. The B&W's bass has always been deep and prodigious, but with the Theta it was perceptibly less rumbly, a lot more precise. With the Maggies the difference is even more pronounced. The Casa Nova is insanely complicted to optimize, but fairly straightforward if a little tedious to set up. The sheer number of setup options puts even Lexicon to shame. I loved my Lexicon, but I don't miss it. -Rakesh
