The classe ssp-25 and ssp50 both have upgrade paths to clear up the misinfo. Both can be upgraded through eprom replacement at no cost to the buyer. To date there have been no eprom replacements issued on the ssp25. However, the ssp50 has had at least one issued in which the circutry was upgraded to allow an auto detection of modes.
Will it ever be able to have 7 or 8 discreet output channels, the answer is no as is the case for 99% of the processors out there. And none made today will be compatible/upgradable with firewire if and when it hits the market. Is it going to sound fantastic today, and for many years to come... thats up to you.
