Pioneer VSX-D608 questions
Posted by Tim Posey [IP: 208.254.182.224] on June 22, 1999 at 21:25:54 In Reply to: Pioneer VSX-D608 questions posted by Kris Campanale on May 26, 1999 at 12:38:28: I looked at this very same receiver, and in fact was excited to see it finally in stores. However, when I looked at it I saw that they took a lot of content out of the receiver (at least compared to my 6-yr old pre-DD VSX-D602S)to get the price down. If you are willing to trade off many DSP fields (the 602S has 7, not including ProLogic, the 608 less), a programmable remote, some component inputs (my 602 has 9, not including the tuner, the 608 has less) then go for it. I do not remember if the 608 has S-video inputs or optical inputs or not. If you have older equipment and do not plan on updating for a while, the 608 might be for you. Personally, I was disappointed in Pioneer (and I am a Pioneer fan!) on this model. I just purchased a Yamaha receiver based on the specs and it will be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait!
