I sell the Nak AV-10, the Yam 995, and the Marantz. We used to sell Rotel, but it broke too much and it made a lot of noise in the sound. The 995 sound is OK, I could live with it if I had too. It has lots of cool features if you like things like that, although, sound is most important to me, therefore I must say that is sounds a little to thin for me and gets bright at loud levels. (it also has a 4-8 ohm speaker switch on the back witch I hate because it can limit the dynamics of the amp.) The Marantz has plenty of detail at louder volumes, but at lower volume, it seems as if the Marantz does not make a sonic impact on the listener...well, that's the words of the other guy at the store. He thought it didn't portray enough detail at low levels. I didn't find the Marantz that bad...I just hate those digital volume controls (Denon and Kenwood has those too) when the volume knob keeps spinning. There has been some debate about that as far as acheiving absolute sound quality from the receiver's amp. Although the 780's pre-amp section of the reciever consists of the same parts as their home theatre pre-amp (I think it's the 800???), which consists of a Yamaha chip and Philips D/A's. Yes, the remote is cool if you have the patience for it. I have no need for it. I like something basic... ...like Nakamichi's AV-10 remote. It is the best! All of the functions were so easily to use, well placed, not cluttered, no fancy wheels or flip cases (the Yamaha's make a great key chain!:), easy learning remote...I could go on. And it complents the wonderful AV-10. I thought the sound from this receiver was sweet! It never stressed (at my listening levels which can be at about 11.30 on the dial sometimes) The detail is phenominal from a reciever, it had such a smooth top end and the bass gave my JMLab Cobalt 810's a good kick! It had a wonderful bottom end like the Marantz (I find the Yamaha does not have such a great bottom end). I loved this receiver! So I bought it...But when you get to hear more higher end equipment and get into seperates, your ears will cry for more! more! detail, like mine...so now I am going audition the Anthem AVM-1 and MCA-3 (x2) for my next upgrade... Hope that helped! (Go for the Nak!) Mike
